Room To Grow
A workshop on the Yamas and Niyamas
with Janet Muse
Sat. May 24th, 2008
2:00 ~ 5:30 p.m.
$50.00 investment
Yoga is not a religion, but a very rich, ancient, and sacred practice that can be used to draw your connection closer to whatever moves and guides you. Its teachings are based on the 8 limbs of yoga which are in place to help us achieve a meaningful and purposeful life.
Yama - restraint - is the first limb of yoga. There are five Yamas that have to do with our ethical standards and sense of integrity. They are a means of personal conduct in life.
Niyama - observance - is the second limb of yoga. There are five Niyamas that focus on self-discipline and spiritual observance.
This workshop is great for continued education for teachers or serious practitioners of yoga, couples, beginners, and anyone looking to expand their conscious way of living and thinking.
This 3 1/2 hour workshop will begin with a 90 minute asana (posture) practice, followed by a 2 hour lecture/discussion of the first two limbs of yoga. Please bring your notebook and a pen. A short discussion will cover all 8 limbs. This is sure to be an afternoon full of personal enrichment and enlightenment. Tea will be served. We hope to see you there! Namaste.

Not a workshop but definitely worth checking out!
A great friend of the studio, Len Brady, is offering FREE classes twice a week for beginners.
(Mondays
4-5:15pm
and
Saturdays
2-3:15pm)
Len is willing to share his passion for yoga with those folks who are completely new to yoga. If you've been practicing for a while you probably remember that first yoga class.
'I am supposed to put my foot where?'
'What's the deal with all the attention to my breathing?'
'If down dog is really a resting position, I must be doing something wrong!'
This is the kind of stuff that can unfortunately keep folks from coming to a class in the first place. Len's designed this class for the complete novice. No stupid questions, no expectations, just patient instruction and tons of explanation.
We all know people who are a little intimidated by a yoga class, this is the perfect thing for them!
Len will be coordinating a workshop later this summer as well, to transition the complete beginner to an OM1 class. |
